Initial Concept | When a family of six renovated their hilltop Wellesley home, Pressley was asked to prepare design and construction documents to enhance its landscape.
Lasting Impact | A linear drive, dramatically lit and flanked by soaring evergreens, introduces the property. Fieldstone walls with an integrated waterfall provide a focal point for the gateway to the motor court, which features an intricate paving pattern. An opening in a stonewall reveals the side yard's south-facing bluestone patio, integrated fire pit and interior spa. Exfoliating bark on river birch blends with the home's stone facade. Wide granite steps set in grass descend to a deluxe basketball court and children's play structure. On the house's north side a sloping lawn was leveled for a playfield, which doubles as a sculpture backdrop when viewed from the living room. Pleased with their landscape, the family purchased the property behind them and replaced its house and garage with more grassed play space, a vegetable garden, a service drive while preserving a pristine wooded glade.
